Seeing our orthodontist for the very first time can be extremely exciting. First off, congratulations on taking the first step in a healthier, straighter smile. Here’s what you should expect at your new patient appointment:
When You Arrive
Please plan to arrive about 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment to complete a set of new patient forms. Be sure to bring a copy of your insurance card, if applicable.
X-rays and Exam
Our orthodontist will need to see full-mouth radiographs of your teeth and jaws to evaluate the best method of tooth alignment therapy. Next, we will thoroughly examine each of your teeth and your oral anatomy, to take a comprehensive approach at planning your treatment.
Consultation and Treatment Planning
With all of the necessary information in hand, our orthodontist will discuss which options are available to correct your tooth misalignment. We’re happy to discuss any concerns that you may have, including questions about specific types of braces.
Together, we’ll determine the type of braces that work best for your situation. From here, we’ll formulate a treatment plan that outlines the length of the service.
Insurance and Financing
After you’ve selected the type of braces and treatment that you want to move forward with, our financial coordinator will review the total costs involved. This includes factoring in your dental insurance benefits, if applicable.
While you choose to pay for your treatment in full, most people decide to make low monthly payments throughout the course of treatment.
Changing Your Aligners Out
Depending on what the schedule looks like (and the type of braces that you’re getting) we can arrange for you to come back to get your braces or put them on at your very first appointment. This is unique to your care plan and needs.
